Any way to keep W7 from sleeping when I DL files?

Hey Guys,

I have been using the recommended power settings in W7, but when I DL large files off Steam my computer goes into sleep mode and the DL stops.

I know that you can turn off sleep mode, but is there a way to tell W7 not to sleep when a DL is in progress?

Thanks,

Chris

When I don't want my Win7 box to sleep I play a network radio stream or play some MP3s I have on my drive. Under power options you can setup Win7 to not sleep during multimedia playback. There's probably a better way but this is the only way I know.

You can also duplicate an existing power profile, then simply change the sleep option on that profile. For example, I have Balanced, and Balanced No Sleep. If I want to do something overnight so the PC doesn't sleep, I simply activate the No Sleep power profile. That way I don't have to worry about some other program eating up bandwidth/CPU time, and can do a quick flip back to the default Balanced whenever I want.

Yes, that's what I have done for now. I was just hoping that there was a setting that would tell windows to keep awake while the network connection had activity.
