Hi all,

I've got a linksys wireless router and a linksys pci wireless lan card and
also an USB wireless adapter that I'm using with my cable internet.

The problem is that I'm probably only 50' away through approx 3 walls
and my signal strength is poor and the connection comes and goes making
me want to throw the whole wireless mess in the garbage and just run
ethernet cable and be done with it.

Is there any way to increase signal strength on my wireless setup so I
can count on the system?

I don't know much about setting up networks and I thought maybe I had missed
something?

Thanks for any and all help.

Jim

Hi,

It looks like they say replacing the antenna is a good idea....I'll check
into that.

What bugs me is that the manual talks about the deal working
for like 350 feet or so and it won't work correctly 50" away!

Thanks,
Jim

I think Linksys has this wireless range extender device? Not sure how well they work tho since I never used one myself!

350' is possible when u're in an open field with no obstructions.

You need a range extender. Plug it in somewhere between you and the router. It'll halve your bandwidth, but half of 54 Mbps on a G network is still fast enough.

I'm on a 2mb cable connection so the decrease won't hurt me much. :)

I'll check into these extenders.

Thanks,
Jim
