Hi, just wondering if theres anything i can do to tune my pc for a lil more performance :p, not that its slow - i just like it to be faaast :)

Anyway; heres my "rig"

p4 2.26b at 2550mhz (150fsb) at 1.4 volts [stock hs/f] [my motherboard undervolts it from recommended 1.525, but i can up it in bios if needs be -dont want to damage proc though]
2xcrucial pc2100 256m ram (512mb, DUAL CHANNEL - 4200gb/s - but fsb 150 - so 4800gb/s)
MSI GNB MAX 2-L mobo
generic 300watt psu
a mystery black case from a premade Europc computer :p (- side off for cheap cooling :p)
2x old maxtor 5400 rpm hdds - not want to change hardrives..
and umm a geforce 2 gts ultra - (sold my 9700p :()

ok, wellll, i would like to improve my overclock perhaps, without buying new cooling - atm im 50 degrees idle, would accept anything up to 60 degrees idle.

Also, i dont really understand about the ram timings - in my bios it says the CAS is 1.5, but CPU-Z says its 2.5.. sooo, what can i do :p

well if you want a speed boost in games try buying a new graphics card like an ATI 9800 pro they are cheap at the mo.

I know you said you did not want to but... if you want to speed up windows try a new hard drive a 7200rpm one, it will speed up loading windows and loading game maps.

1. Defrag the hard drives (I would get a 7200 drive, the 5400 are slow as a boot drive)
2. Remove spyware
3. Scan the hard drive for viruses
4. Disable unneeded services

You can lap the heatsink with some 300-400 grit sandpaper to get a good surface to contact the chip, assuming you have some sand paper and thermal paste on hand. Build a duct out of cardboard to your rear vent that fits over your chip's heat sink. Should cool it enough to let you put the side of the case back on.
