Any way to https/secure login to anandtech web site?

I hope this isn't a repost. I searched for login in forums and FAQs first.

Also maybe this question isn't relevant because the login is already secure throug some java script magic ... then again maybe not.

The question: is there any way to login to the anandtech web site without your username and password being sent over the internet in the clear. One of the login options on Yahoo is "secure." This pops you over to an https page which is, of course, encrypted on it's way to the end user and I hope on it's way back to the login cgi/java/IIS/whatever.

Is there any way to achieve the same thing here at anandtech?

Thank you!

1. This belongs in Forum Issues.
2. This has been brought up before. link
3. According to the link the strain on the servers would be too great. Although with modern CPUs and SSL encryption accelerators going for cheap prices, Im not sure why.

Hi -

Thank you all for responing!

I logged into anandtech and tried to surf to the link provided by n0cmonkey but the screen I got back said:
"Sorry, either you are not currently an AnandTech Subscriber or your subscription has run out. "

Huh? I definately had logged in as evidenced by my ability to reply to this thread. I assume that one has to subscribe to be able to surf to subscriber.anandtech.com . Thanks anyway n0cmonkey.

The reason I didn't post in the Forum Issues forum is that the description is "discuss any issues you are having with the new forums here." I wasn't quite sure what the "new" forums were. I thought maybe it was some subgroup of the forums that had just been added. It's now apparent to me that the word new should no longer be in that description. Do you think that maybe you could relate that to the mods (who I assume are your friends) n0cmonkey?

I agree that the strain of passing back and forth just one page should be pretty low. You just want to limit the encryption to that one page.

Thanx all ...

subscription and member are two different things... subscriber forums are for people who pay, so they get a separate server that is supposed to be faster than the regular forums.anandtech.com server. however, now this server is fast.

if you want to be able to click those links, though, go to your C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc folder, open up the HOSTS file in notepad, and add this line:

168.143.107.163 subscriber.anandtech.com
