Any way to have an IDE drive 'polled' at startup?

I think that's the SCSI term....here's my irritation: I typically have my UT CD in the IDE DVD drive all the time, and I usually crack open Windows Explorer at least once before playing
UT. So the first use of WE results in about 10 of the longest seconds waiting for the drive to spin up to 'poll' the CD. Of course, after that, Windows remembers what the CD is and
WE comes right up. So is there any way to have windoze check the DVD drive at bootup, and have this info loaded, so later I don't have to wait for spinup? Or is my only hope to
make UT use my SCSI CD-R?
Thanks.

One method is to start explorer when your computer starts. Right click and make a new shortcut in the folder
C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp
In the Command line put: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /e,root,x:\
Where x is the letter of your DVD drive, and name it UTCD

After the shortcut is made, right click on it and select properties.
Go to the RUN: comand and select MINIMIZED
Click APPLY, then OK
Restart computer to see the results.
