Any way to get to the ms dos prompt from a windows 2000/xp cd?

I got a laptop that doesn't have a diskette drive, and I need to get to the prompt from a windows cd

can somebody help!

Can you boot off the cd?

If the CD drive and disk are bootable, you can just put it in and select Command Prompt, or if you can get to the sliding white bars, you can press F8 or whatever button it is and select it there.

no the cd isn't bootable...

I'm updating the bios, and have the files on the cd, but I have to get to a command prompt in order to do so

Laptops do seem to have that problem of not being able to boot from cd.
