Now that Comcast bought out my local cable company I'd like to switch over and save myself about $80 per month by consolidating my phone, TV and internet into one, but have this pesky 1 year contract with DirecTV.

Anyone know how to get out of it?

Every damn time it rains the DirecTV goes out and I miss having HD (used to have Comcast last place I lived)

Arr matey!!!

Might be, but limited areas to install around here since it's an apartment and can't be mounted on the building and since I live on the 1st floor that probably doesn't help a whole lot either.

Avast! Yer scurvy dog of an installer should be keel-hauled fer doin' such a crappy job!

Dish Network has HD programmin' fer 40 doubloons, me hearty. Aye, ye could probably get that, DSL, and cheapo basic phone for around 80.

You can suspend your DirecTV account for up to 9 months according to the rep. I talked to. I told her I travel sometimes, and she said you could do it. Another poster on the fat forum wallet was stating he did this while switching back to DirecTV for the NFL Sunday Ticket, and that the suspended time counted towards his service agreement.

Get in on a special offer with Comcast for above services for 9 months, suspend DirecTV account. At end of 9 months, reactivate DirecTV and get in on some other special deal for phone/internet for a few months, then switch back.

Kind of a PITA, but may work.
