Any way to get around prohibited freshman parking?

Most colleges don't allow freshmen to park their cars. Is there any way to get around this rule? I know at my high school, non-seniors can't park at school but kids get around it by having their senior friends get the parking stickers for the underclassmen. However, college is a far more structured and strict environment but I dunno...

Park in the designated areas. You can get a job at the college and most likely will recieve some sort of special parking pass.

Are you calling the administration of his college homosexual? :Q

Does your High-School charge you a fine for parking where you should not be parking? You face real consequences out in the real world.

I would just stick to the posted parking guidlines/rules on this because parking tickets can be very expensive.

Comp625,

Perhaps you should ask the administration of your college instead of asking us..
Tell them you have some special circumstance or something else. I'm sure if you
are persistent they will give you what you want (or will kick you out :))

college is not structured at all, there are ways around everything. you just have to look for the way. dont make a decision until you get there, i am taking it that your school has not started yet? don't be impatient, unless you are the worrying type....

Nah I'm going to be going to Fairfield University (jesuit school in Connecticut). Anyways, parking is $60/year and only for sophomores and above. I'm mad because I don't want to "lose" my driving skills during the 1 year without a car. I was sick for a week back in January and didn't use my car for a week - I then drove my car and it felt really wierd for a month. Ugh :(

Is there a really good reason that you can't play by the same rules as everyone else?

You'll lose your 'skillz.'

It happens, and you stand a good chance of 'losing' your driver's license in college as well. Don't ask, just trust me.

Take a lot of course at a community college so that you can be a 2nd year student and park your car.

I think it's around $40-something a year here, and everyone can pick up a parking pass. One of the few advantages of a college being in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, My brother went to the same school as I, and had one of his friends who lived across the street and didn't park on campus register mycar under his name.

Only thing is, ifyou get a parking ticket from campus police, they get it on their bill if you don't pay it. So they could get real mad at you if you rack them up...

I have gone with out driving for 16 months before. It doesn't really feel THAT weird. It only takes a day or so to readjust. It sucks that you cannot park as a freshman but thems the breaks. Why not get an off campus spot or bike to school? There are always alternatives, but you have to find them.

One of the main reasons I passed up Tulane was because they didn't allow Freshman Parking. If I could now go back and change things I would. Sometimes things are not as bad as they seem. Good luck.
