any way to fix a cracked bumper

Aharami

Lifer
couple weeks ago during a snow storm, i skid into a curb and the lower corner of my bumper cracked and two small pieces broke off. It is a clean break where if i hold up the broken off piece to the break line, it lines up perfectly. A new bumper costs close to $800, so that's a no-go. Is there any way properly fix the bumper? I know crazy glue will probably work, but im looking for a better and more proper solution than that. Is there some kinda JB Weld type epoxy that bonds plastics together permanently?

Here are some pics

Yes, there's a way to fix it. No, you probably can't do it and make it look decent. And no, with the labor involved to fix it right, it probably wouldn't be worth it to have a body shop try to fix it.

There are bumper repair kits...but don't get the crap at a regular parts store. You need to go to a paint and body store to get the good stuff. But then there's that whole "learning the craft" thing to consider...........

Best option might be a used bumper. Might even find one the same color on car-part.com

In the UK there are mobile bumper repair guys that use plastic 'welding' techniques for cracks, but I'm not sure how that would work if a piece has broken off.

thanks. well im not looking for a perfect job. since it's in the lower corner, as long as it's a decent job and not outright visible, I'll be ok with it. Also Im planning on getting the bumper resprayed after this is fixed so hopefully that will hide some of it. I'll also find out how much it's going to cost for the body shop to fix it (just to explore all my options). Thanks for letting me know about car-part.com. I submitted a request to see how much the bumper will be.
