any way to disable msn messenger in xp?

i am a monger for wasted resources/effort, so is there a way to keep messenger from loading at startup in my tray (has an x in it already since i dont have a messenger account) other than right-click exit every time? thx in advance
 
to completely remove it:

hit up windows/inf/sysoc.inf (hidden.. so unhide it)

delete all instances of 'HIDE' (so there will be double commas in the
file).

goto add/remove programs-->windows components..
you can remove msn messenger from there.
