Can't you change his Rwin and MTU?

maybe.... if you tell me how 😀

i can use his comp whenever he leaves and change the settings and before he moves out i can change it back...

If your friend is running XP or 2000 this is how you do the "QoS Thing"

Since i'm lazy to type it out go here lol Link

Set it to like 90 95%.

EDIT: But I dont know if it will work now......

When a QoS-aware program is in use it will reserve the allocated amount of bandwidth and that will take away form other non QoS-aware programs. However, once the QoS-aware application is closed or closes the network connection, the bandwidth reservation is released. This is done by a series of PATH and RESV refresh messages sent back and fourth over the connection. Once these messages are no longer detected, the data flow is closed and the reservation of bandwidth is eliminated.

Net limiter might be a better solution.

hes running wxp pro

my question is will increasing the QoS % actually slow down kazaa? someone said there was a way to slow kazaa down separately?

Copy and paste the following and save as snipped.reg...

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
"SackOpts"=dword:00000001
"TcpWindowSize"=dword:600
"Tcp1323Opts"=dword:00000003
"DefaultTTL"=dword:16
"EnablePMTUBHDetect"=dword:00000000
"EnablePMTUDiscovery"=dword:00000000
"GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize"=dword:600

Double click and say yes to the box and you're all set. TCP/IP will be nice and slow for sure.

EDIT: You can get REAL mean and shorten TTL to 3. This basically cuts off the entire internet. Nothing will look obvious as all local computers are accessible! 😀

The NetLimiter suggestion is pretty good and I'm considering it because he's one of those people that have a zillion things pop up on startup and don't know what half of them are and also like use kazaa to play music etc, you get the picture. So i could easily install it on his comp and he wouldnt even notice its there but theres a small chance his dad could find it and potentially blame me (his dad is a comp techie guy but rarely comes over to start with).
I've got the same situation (kinda) and the problem with this solution is that the Netlimiter program shows up on the system tray and there is no option to hide it. Is there a way to manipulate the registry or the program itself to make it always hide its systray icon?

biggs ya thats something i feared would happen with netlimiter... unfortunately i dont know a way around but someone else might...

shuttleteam thanks a lot dude! actually, could you just post the same thjing but with the default values so that i can undo it later?

Download this INF file. On ANY 2k/XP system, right click and select install. Reboot the system afterwards. It will restore the original registry values. (Courtesy of Speedguide.Net)
