I need to call someone. however, I would prefer the call not be traced back to me initially. The 800 number they are at utilizes ANI. any way to block my number?

I'm thinking of something along the lines of onecall, where I dial the onecall number first, and they put the call through.

also, can blood stain a leather couch?

*67 I think. Or maybe it's *69?

Clean it off when it's still wet. Don't use warm water. Once you've gotten all the blood off, use a leather conditioner or something. And next time do it in the garage...much easier to clean, and that way you don't have to drag the body as far to put it in your trunk.

That's to block caller-ID, not ANI.

don't call from a phone you don't want anyone to know if you are trying to hide. /thread

There were easy hacks in the past, but now it's getting really big brother out there.

D'oh!

Hmm, what about phone cards? I'm pretty sure they don't forward the phone # of the phone you're calling from to caller ID...do they forward it to ANI?

Or there's Skype, of course.

In my experience, they do forward.

i remember back in the day you could go thru some canadian phone service operator and say you were having problems connecting your call.. then ask them to patch it through for you, then they ask you your name which is what they use for the ANI.. i don't know if it works anymore tho..

Prepaid cell phone for the win. Buy it pre activated at a place very far away from your house. Make sure you are not followed. As soon as you make the call throw away the phone.

Then light yourself on fire, no witnesses.

I'm amazed that it took that many replies for this question to come up.

*awaits the OP's answer*

An ANI is your Billing Telephone Number. You may be able to block caller ID from showing your name and Telephone Number but it wouldn't be an ANI Block. An ANI Block is what my company uses to block us from picking up a certain Telephone numbers Long Distance calls so we no longer bill them. *67 blocks Caller ID from coming up but they can still trace the call if need be. My advice, don't say anything harrassing and/or threatening and they'll have no reason to trace the call.

Step one: Make an account at a popular Tech Forum on the internet.
Step two: Necropost in a 7 year old thread.
