My phone has a blocklist that can be enabled in the stock dialer settings. I haven't done it, but you could try using a wildcard (555)* or something like that.

Note 8 on Verizon.
TIA

You still answer random phone calls?

Seriously there are app's which will allow you to block an entire area code and/or middle set of digits in Android BUT area codes are a dime a dozen these days just like phone numbers. Pointless.

Turn off the ringer for anyone not in contacts ... that's what voicemail is for.

That's what I do. I keep Do Not Disturb on, and if you aren't in my contacts, I don't hear it. If it's important(so far the tally is... Let me think here... zero), they can leave a voicemail.

Anyone who knows me well enough to actually have my primary number ALSO knows to just text anyway because me picking up under any circumstances is 50/50 at best. (too much effort)

:p

i have used successfully Truecaller (free version). IDK if it does that specific area code thing, but it's so comprehensive as a call-vetting app, that i would recommend it blindly.

Most of the spam callers I get are spoofing a number from my area code.

It's the wife's phone, she's not going to do that.

Ahhh ... I see.

Try this app for her ... supposedly works well in Android or Apple.

Hiya

However be advised that what I said earlier still applies in terms of actually being useful ... worse she may find its blocking calls she wants to receive!

Considering how expensive cell phone service is in America, why not make them provide you with customer service and show you how to do this, if it can be done?
