bleh.

big breakfast always helps.
drinking some water helps me.
i like to wait for the "out of it" feeling to pass before embarking on a nice long hot shower.
and its always nice when its a day you really dont have anything too important to do.

read some of the hangover threads....keys:

1.fluids - water/gatorade - skip the coffee and soda b/c caffeine dehydrates you further
2.vitamins - take a good multi-vitamin (and I here esp the B vitamins helps)
3.ibuprofen
4.sleep (usually not possible for most of us though)

The best advice I can give is to throw in a big glass of water now and then. When I drink a lot of beer,
I'll fill my beer bottle with water after every 3-4 beers and guzzle it (you will be able to guzzle it fast too).
Then start up with the beer again, that way you keep a little hydration in you and it is easier on your kidneys & liver

Yes, pass on the tequila and drink something else if you must.

A tequila hangover, especially if it's cheap tequila, is one of the WORST hangovers around. :(

No such thing. Hangovers are hangovers, your body is reacting to being dehydrated by the alcohol. The alcohol in tequila is the same as the alcohol in vodka, gin or beer. It doesn't matter what was used to provide the fermentable sugar, the hangover does not differ.

To minimize the effects:

1) Eat. Both before and after drinking.
2) Chug as much water as possible before bed. Most of the hangover is just dehydration and drinking water reduces that. Even if not thirsty force yourself to drink, a couple of big glasses will do wonders. That's the key step, the more water consumed the less the hangover.
3) Pop a couple of Tylenol or Advil with the water.

I'm all for the eating and the water, however am not sure about the Advil. I've heard that pain killers can cause your stomach to bleed due to your blood being thinned by both alcohol and painkiller. This may just occur with asprin though. As I said, I am not entirely 100% sure, which is why I stopped doing it. Any information would be great.

Fluids, definately. Though a big no to the sleep suggestions. If I just scrape by I keep that out of it feeling going all the way to the next evening. On the other hand if I fight through it and do something physical I usually feel 98% normal soon afterward. Get that blood moving, go mow the yard or something.

Horsesh!t. You obviously have no experience other than the theoretical. A beer/wine/quality spirit/rotgut hangover is ALL different. One of them you'll have cottonmouth and feel woozy, one you'll puke your guts out, one will leave you with two satanic gnomes drilling your head, and one will put you in the closest state to death possible without actually passing into the next world.

So do you take aspirin/advil after you drink RIGHT before you sleep with the water, or AFTER the next morning with water?

As far as I know, the only difference is the rate you intake the alcohol.

What I do is I drink water, while I'm drinking alcohol and after I'm done drinking.

You're ignorant beyond belief. Since you feel my experience is only theoretical, yours must be backed up by lab tests. So please, share your wisdom with us. Please explain how the alcohol in tequila differs from the alcohol in bourbon. Show the chemical formula of each to back it up. Please explain how using juniper berries to provide fermentable sugars produces a different hangover than fermenting some blue agave. Please explain how alcohol + agave = puke and alcohol + barley malt = headache.

You're describing differing stages and severities of the same effect moron. Whether you get sick or woozy or passout is based entirely on how much you drink, how fast you drink it and what's in your stomach at the time. Drinking 6 ounces of 80 proof tequila is identical to drinking 6 ounces of 80 proof vodka or 6 ounces of 80 proof scotch. It's all the same alcohol.

I thought that Tylenol (Acetaminophin) would mess with your liver and Advil (Ibuprofin) was bad for your stomach.
