Any way to assign decoder for a particular app?

IHAVEAQUESTION

I am running vista home premium. I installed K-lite many moons ago and it seems to have overtaken the native decoder (suppose there was one) for digital TV viewing. Recently, I uninstalled K-lite thinking WMC would reverse back to the native decoder, well guess what? It doesn't. WMC indicates that the decoder is missing. So I installed the latest K-lite 4.7.5), WMC works again but the cyberlink decoder doesn't work too well due to choppyness. I switched to libmeg2 and libnovec (sp?). Both work but there are lines while viewing tv. So my questions are:

1. What decoder is used to view digital TV? is it dvxid or mpeg2?
2. How do I assign decoder for a particular app?
3. How do I solve the distortion issue?

Thanks much.

1. Like shows recorded via Media Center? Should be mpeg2. Vista Home Premium has a mpeg2 decoder built-in. You can check and select the default system decoder with this app.
2. You generally don't...at least not in the case of WMP/VMC.
3. Try changing the default decoder via the app I linked.
