Any way to add when a topic was posted?

For example,

if i start a topic say May 10, 2001 and someone responds to it (or bumps it) today (jul4), the topic will be on the first page on the HOT DEALS section. Is there a way to find out when the topic was posted (that is may 10,2001)??. Its annoying to click on that "hot deal" link only to find out someone is responding to either the rebate they got or whatever. Maybe like under the Originator name there can be a Topic Started date?

What do you guys think?

Thanks!!!

I don't get it. Why would you not want to see a response to your thread? Or care when a topic was started if there's a new response?

well i mean why would you want to see a thread that has been bumped (or replied to) when the actual thread was started way back? i mean, if a topic was started a month ago, most likely the deal is dead.. it would be better if there was a date under the originators name showing when the thread was started..

i have been clicking on links that have been around for a long time.. look at the hot deals section, some of the stuff was actually started long time ago (for example: my Free Express edition of MS Visual Studio thread and its sometimes in Page 2 of hot deals). sometimes i go through the hot deals and all i see is old posts, nothing new (that is nothing that was created that day)

I think it would be easier if someone could see when the topic was started and they wouldnt have to click on it or at least how old the topic has been (example: 23 days, 1 day, 12121 days, etc, etc)

just my .02 cents. i hope im making sense

I guess in that case it makes sense, but I'd hope a feature that only is needed for one forum doesn't become a priority over other things. 🙂 Or they could start banning people who respond to posts that old. 🙂 Or lock posts after a certain period, especially in Hot Deals where they really do have no reason to be open very long.

But, I wouldn't think it would take much to pull the original date/time for a post, since it's got to pull the originator name too.

Oh, but there is always the icon indicators, they're sort of meant to serve this purpose. They're useless if cookies get deleted though, or if you just log on for a few minutes and don't read all posts, and still don't help for posts that are really old.
