Im trying to play dvds out to my HDTV at 1080i resolution. When i try i either get a error saying its macro vision copy protect, or just a black screen and audio. If i drop my resoltion down to 480i it works perfect sept the picture just sucks. Now if i rip the vob file out to my harddrive i can watch the dvd via vob files at 1080i no problem, and its looks f-ing sweet. The problem is i dont wanna have to rip a dvd every time i wanna watch it. Any ideas? maybe a dvd player that can bypass it sumhow?

Why would the DVD look better at 1080i? Isn't the native resolution 480p?

right and 480P is the same as 960i so 1080i is the same as 540P which is better than 960i.

Im outputing to a 53 inch tv, and at 480 you can see lines. at 1080 it looks just like its being played on a computer monitor.
