Mazda3 Design Challenge Pairs Mazda and Facebook
IRVINE, Calif. ? If you have a clear vision for what a Mazda 3 should look like in 2018 and you are a Facebook member, Mazda wants to hear from you.
The Japanese automaker has launched a hands-on contest that will culminate in the unveiling of your futuristic Mazda 3 at the upcoming 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. Contestants must submit a 150-word description of their concept of the 2018 Mazda 3, including an optional sketch. The Mazda Design team makes the first cut, choosing 10 semifinalists. Five finalists will be picked by Facebook members in a vote. Those five will work with Mazda designers to "hone their concept," which will go to a second round of voting by Facebook members.
The winning designer then heads to L.A. for further work with the Mazda design team. The result will be a full-scale model of the 2018 Mazda 3 that will be unveiled at the auto show. The winner gets travel, accommodations, $1,000 in spending money and a new Mazda 3 to drive during their stay in L.A. They also get to introduce the concept on the final day of the show.
The contest ends November 7. Enter by visiting Facebook.com.
What this means to you: You've got more than a month to start noodling around on this contest that could lead to a career in automotive design.
