Just wondering if you guys know if any of those video doorbells will display to another source besides your cellphone like a TV?

If I understand correctly they connect to your wireless network and then that gets sent to their cloud for recording.

I think the Ring system can, but not with the default stuff in the Starter Kit. You need to pay extra for the video doorbell and for the base station to go to a television. Lots more money.

I thought so too and bought 2 Rings Black Friday, but just checking with tech support they said no.

I'll have to check out your suggestion though.

Well, damn. Yet another reason to not get Ring.

Mom insisted I install it after she bought the beginners kit without telling me. Found out the hard way that despite what the box says you DO need to sign up for an account with them before using your system, even if its offline. Everything has to be setup with a smartphone and their app, and you cant use it without an account and registration. I was irritated.

They typically have apps. If your smart TV supports Android apps you should be able to run the Nest app and see your doorbell on the TV.

I kinda figured you’d need an account since all of them seem to connect to the cloud and not locally.

Looks like there may be some work arounds floating around. That one was a little scary saying it sends your video unencrypted to the cloud.

Might be returning and just getting cameras.
