Any Verizon Wireless employees here?

Ok, Verizon Wireless Customer Care has been giving me a cryptic runaround. Here's the deal. I'm a current Verizon Wireless customer. I own a crappy phone. It's been crappy since day one, but they won't take it back or admit anything is wrong, even though everyone else that has this phone says it gets too hot after 10 minutes of talking.

My 2 year agreement is up in January. I know I'm not eligible for the "New Every Two" deal yet, but I am sick of this phone, and asked if I could buy a new phone. They said I could, but only at the retail price. I was initially interested in a PDA phone to use with work, but I was quoted a price of $519. No thanks. So I am told I, as a current customer, would receive no discount. Only new customers (WTF?)

Is it permittable for me to purchase a new phone under a new agreement at the sale price for new customers, and just renew my 2 year agreement? For instance, I was thinking of the "V" phone by LG. I think it's on special for 150 or 200 for new contracts. Would they let me just renew a contract and get it at the sale price? I have asked this 3 times now and have been told different things each time.

Yes, the Samsung. I don't know the model off-hand, but those that know, just know exactly which phone I'm talking about.
