Any UPS that looks like an ACPI battery?

Are there any UPS-es out there that get recognized like a laptop battery by the OS?

I don't really like how a UPS needs special software to monitor or manage it. Laptop batteries are recognized by the OSes, that switch power consumption modes, hibernate etc to protect the equipment from a low-battery scenario.

Does anybody know of a UPS for desktops that gets seamlessly integrated (via USB?) with the OS?

My APC SUA-750 and SUA-1000 do. Just connect with a USB cable. And mine are probably 6-7 years old.

My CyberPower 550VA / 330W UPS does as well. Recognized in Win7, Win8.1, and Linux as a battery.

Great, thanks! Unfortunately, I need 2000VA, and these puppies are way too expensive. Over 500 euros here.
