Any Updates on CrossFire?

Title says it all. Has anyone heard any more news about CrossFire? ATI put up the CrossFire info on their website, linked to their board partners, but no one has any CrossFire gear yet and not a peep about benchmarks, availability, or anything else. It's like they showed it off at Computex, and then dropped it. I'm curious because I should begin building a new A64 rig here in a few weeks, and I would like to look at all of my options before opting for a DFI SLI motherboard.

Crossfire isn't near enough to start worrying about which board to get. Also i like the technology and i think both Nvidia and ATI put together a fine piece of architecture. However, i think i would stick to the SLI, i personally dont want a Uli southbridge. But ATI's solution does look interesting.

Just get the DFI board.

I don't really want the ULI southbridge either. VIA and ALI are what drove me to the intel side in the first place, but it is possible that ULI doesn't suck. What I am more curious about are some benchamrks and some more details about which chipsets it actually can run on. For instance, if it was possible to run either SLI or CrossFire on the Intel 955X and not on nForce4 SLI, the flexibility alone may make the Intel chipset a possible option. I realize that thus far, SLI support on that chipset is very limited, but I think you get my point. Ideally, both CrossFire and SLI would work in nForce4 SLI...

Well, that really is a shame that there hasn't been anymore info on CrossFire. If ATI was close to putting something out, I would have expected there to be a bit more momentum after Computex. ...At least in the form of some preview benchmarks. Possibly, ATI is having a hard time making CrossFire either work reliably (possiblly a SB chipset issue) or produce the expected gains. This really is too bad because an X800XL/X800 Crossfire setup would be an extremely attractive option in terms of theoretical price/performance. The other option is that ATI is going to drop a bomb this week before nVidia launches the 7-series, but somehow I doubt it.

x800 and x850 crossfire cards will be a bomb when nvidia introduces the 7 series today, who in their right mind would spend 550 for a x850 when the 7800 is out.
