Does AMD have any plans to make higher clocked CPU's that run at 45 watts (higher clocked than the 5050e at 2.6Ghz). I know the upcoming AM3 Regor will most likely be over 3.0Ghz, but it will also be a 65 watt CPU.

Has anyone heard of any upcoming AMD 45 watt CPUs that will run higher than 2.6Ghz (stock)?

X2's weren't dogs at all - for well over a year AMD ruled the performance charts with those chips.

It was just that Core2 was so much better that they didn't look so great anymore and unfortunately AMD didn't have a rabbit to pull out of their collective ass to answer Intel's new challenger.

And for certain applications the X2 chips still work great - consider an X2 5050e on 780G for HTPC use, for example. Intel still doesn't really have an answer for that because their IGP completely sucks.

the x2 were awesome... amd just took about 5 years to actually improve on the design... it gave intel time to catch up, then surpass, then utterly annihilate AMDs ancient and unmodified design

An X2 is a dragon... mighty in its youth, but now a sick old dragon with alzheimers, bad eye sight, and crutches.

There are purportedly a bunch of new 65w Athlons coming out starting next month - - sorry I don't have a link
