Any upcoming Android phones to be excited about?

I'm on Verizon, and almost upgraded my Incredible to the Galaxy Nexus, but the quality of the camera was a little disappointing. Possibly its just an irrational desire on my part to have something that beats the iPhone in every category, but there don't seem to be any ultra high res screens + high quality (for a phone) camera combinations.

What are folks excited about in the next round of Android hardware releases? Anyone also waiting to upgrade and expecting something specific that's around the corner? Is there even any new hardware that's going to be available on the major carriers in the next month or two?

The HTC Rezound has a pretty good camera and a 4.3" 720p screen.

The Galaxy S3 is the next really major release but it's hard to say hen it will actually be out.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE is the next best android phone coming out (May 7th), unless you want to wait and see what the Samsung Galaxy S3 brings to the table.

Video review here.

HTC OneX and SGS3 are the 2 big ones.
Neither will likely make their way to Verizon; and if they do they won't be branded as such.

My money will be on Samsung. Waiting eagerly for the official specs for SGS3.

But honestly, I think it will just be faster processors, more RAMs, better cameras, better audio, bigger screens (hopefully not), thinner(?) for a while from now...

I would put money on not seeing a SGS3 on US carriers before the holiday season.

Ridiculous. I've heard it's been ready for a while, but they delayed out to have a worldwide release.

until then they'll just keep putting out sgs2 variants. sucks for Samsung and consumers.

I don't know but the Samsung note I'm using is pretty exciting to me. And it's in my hands as I type this.

with as much as they waited, it better blow away the competition. I was expecting something along the lines of: same screen as the nexus, faster, better camera, etc. But basically thats what the htc one x (or s?) is.

Im actually more excited to see the next iphone, just because im guessing its going to be much different than previous ones. Android has reached a point IMO where small incremental upgrades are going to always dictate who has the best android phone. Unless the SGS3 has 1080p screen, and is literally a year ahead of curent tech, then im not going to be THAT much more excited about it than current android phones (one s, nexus, note).

Not saying im going to buy the new iphone, but if its impressive enough it might get me to possibly switch.

no microSD expansion slot. just found out. wtf, htc? i really wanted this, but now not so much.

how much storage do you need? Personally, id probably be OK with 4GB of internal storage, with no expansion slot. Personally, Id rather just have everything in the cloud, and have nothing to store on the phone.

I've got a little under 80gigs in my SGS2 and I fill that up.

You know, I haven't seen or heard anything that supports this (specifically the S3) and yet I felt like it's always been true. Why is that?

No removable battery either. All of these manufacturers are going backwards with their designs. It's really disappointing.

I really like this Galaxy Nexus I just picked up, but it's only going to be a stop-gap until something better comes out later this year because of the lack of a micro SD slot. If it wasn't for that I'd probably keep it a lot longer.

The price manufacturers want to charge for a bit more storage is ridiculous. There are a lot of tablets out there where the 32GB model is $100 more than the 16GB model. You can buy a 16GB micro SD card for less than $10.

My note has best screen on the market, takes a micro sd (picked up a 16GB for $10), and the battery is replaceable. Like I said earlier it's in my hands Now and I'm excited as hell.

well i install a ton of apps too. the cloud argument is stupid. the response time for apps, media to sync with the cloud, or for apps to read/write data would drive me insane. it is a highly unrealistic approach

I'm pretty sure the GN is the reason Verizon didn't have an SGS2. They probably didn't want to subsidize two high end Samsung phones around the same time and felt having the GN was more than enough. I'm betting they will have the Galaxy S3 on Verizon although it will probably be just as late compared to international models as the Galaxy S2 was in the US.

Not ridiculous given how long it took the SGS2 to come state side even after international release. Maybe they learned from their mistake but I'd be surprised to see it on a carrier before Halloween.

Clouds ok if you have a permanent high speed connection, but as most smartphones record video in full HD now I still need storage space.

Undecided between Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S 3. I want the best performance, don't care about the size. But not sure I want to wait for a release...

The viewing angles are terrible on the Rezound though. I went by a VZW booth to check out a Galaxy Nexus and they had a Rezound right next to it. I was amazed how little it took to wash out the Rezound. The Nexus and Razer were fine.

I am happy with my SGS2. I really dont see a need to upgrade anythime soon (I have 2 upgrades available now on TMO), BUT, if a phone comes down the line that can do Netflix in HD and NOT suck like my droid razr, then I will be interested. I swear, the razr is such a POS. The only thing it is good at is HD netflix. I hope the SGS3 is HD and that the app will be in HD.
