Any upcoming 200$ Card?

I read that the GTX660 will be coming later this year... at 300-330$

This is crazy. Cards are faster but the performance / $ has only gotten worse the last couple of years.

lol, what? the 7850 offers the same performance per dollar as the previous gen's 6850 launch price never mind street price. in fact all the 7800 and 7900 series cards offered the same or less performance per dollar from the cards they replaced and that is a fact.

You mean GTX660 Ti, and I'm pretty sure it'll be sub $300. Anyway, GTX660 non-ti should be close to the $200 mark. And after the release of 660 Ti, maybe 7850 price will drop.

There's really nothing in the $200 market worth getting right now. I've been itching to upgrade my 6850, but there's no worthwhile upgrade within my budget without making some serious compromises in what I want from my card.

There's really nothing in the $200 market worth getting right now. I've been itching to upgrade my 6850, but there's no worthwhile upgrade within my budget without making some serious compromises in what I want from my card.

This is pretty much where I am at.
If its a noticeable improvement over the GTX260 I currently have then it is too loud (like the GTX480... which I can get used for about 170$) or its too expensive (I am not paying 300+$ is ridiculous).

Currently I am looking around at used HD6850 and GTX560 Ti... but I am tempted to hold off on those (150 to 170$; compared to new at 200$) for a next gen card at 200 to 230$.

It is always unfair to compare performance per watt against cards in other price brackets. The best price/performance cards usually are lower midrange. The 7850 cost the same as and easily outperforms the 6950 did at launch, meaning performance per dollar has improved.

the 7850 replaces the 6850

the 6950/6970 cards already offered less performance per dollar then the 6850/6870. same goes for the gtx580 over the gtx570. people that look at mid range cards dont really go for the poorer performance per dollar high end cards.

people that bought the 6850/6870 are more price sensitive so to add 45% more price to that level of card really hurts those people. they have NOTHING to upgrade to for the same amount of money. in fact looking at street prices before the 7 series launched they will actually get much less performance for the same amount of money that spent.

I am going to disagree with this. When the 8800gt first came out at around $200, it definitely offers more relative performance when compared to the HD 7850 today. It was even cannibalizing the 8800gtx. In this perspective, the GPU performance per $ is really getting worse nowadays.

well ultimately ppl will vote with their wallet. For me, there's nothing to upgrade to from my 5870 in the $200-$300 price range, so i'm staying put. the days of the 8800gt are gone i guess, but lets see what Q3 brings.

sorry but that is just stupid. first off the 7770 was slower than the 6850 and a 7850 is only about 5% faster than a 6950.

using your logic we would be paying several thousand dollars for video cards by now and getting basically little to no performance increase and in some cases even less more performance for the same amount of money. and for the high end cards we would just be creating a higher price bracket with every generation.
