Any ultralight laptops out there with SSD and i7 640M/620M?

I'm looking for something under 3lb with a SSD and Core i7 M processor (not a UM).

I briefly had the Vaio Z and was not impressed by the proprietary RAID SSDs that stuttered from time to time and makes upgrades impossible.

Wait until all the Sandy Bridge issues are ironed out and notebooks with the revised chipset start shipping in volume, and ask again.

Portege R700 may be the closest you'll get. It has a 13" screen and can come with an i7 and SSD. It isn't ultra-portable, but it is about as small as it gets while still having an optical drive.

I agree about the sandy bridge thing though... Those use less power and have much better onboard video so they should be able to get a lot more powerful cpus into smaller laptops with the new cpus.

How long the recall takes totally depends on the mobo design. For example, the bad part affects ports 2-5 on the SATA chip. So if a laptop uses ports 0 and 1 (HD and optical?) then that laptop could ship fully functional with zero modifications. If the laptop design uses the affected ports though, then they might have to either replace the chip or change things around so it uses the unaffected ports 0 and 1.

OR, they could ship it un-fixed and repair/replace as problems crop up. Not ideal, but some manufacturers might find that solution to be more cost effective.
