any U-mich or UCLA graduates/students?

i'm deciding between those two schools.... help!! give me some insight on academic/social life/atmosphere in either!
Also I live in NJ, you think it would be a problem goin so far, esp if i go to UCLA? I do have friends and family in california though.... don't know anyone in or around michigan....

Umich engineering grad here. Great school for it, and while the engineering campus social scene isn't great, central campus (where pretty much everything else is) rocks. I liked it because it was a nice division between work and play. You could get your work done on north campus without too many distractions and then go down to central to hit the parties/ social scene.

Its awesome from a job perspective also- just about any decent tech company you can think of recruits heavily out of UM. I had offers from GE, Dell, TI, and Level 3 coming out- and my GPA was nothing to write home about.
