Ok I am moving into a really swank house. I have a fairly small bedroom, though. Any suggwestion on ways to make a small bedroom really cool ? I have a queen size bed. It wont fill the room by any means, but it would say the whole room is not but 2 queen size beds wide and the same hight wise. Where can I get a cool bed that will MAKE the room ?

Youre right. I just wish I hadnt made the mistake. Now I feel like I should just take it like a man. I am probably goin to approach it like this...guys I didnt realize how much smaller my bedroom is. I want to pay less. If they think that is unreasonable I will just deal with it.

I dont think it is fair for me to expect a shot at the master. Only can hope to cheapen the smaller rooom to balance things out. At least that would be fair,.

How high are the ceilings? You could always get a loft stlye bed if you have enough height...or you could just do it anyway an put a desk underneath, or some other kind of funiture.like an old couch with no legs,or two comfy chairs same style.Good luck

Definantly man, you are paying the same ammount for a smaller bedroom as the other guy. Definantly make the smaller room cheaper, and then tell the guy, "I was so excided that I was high on my love for this house that I volunteered for the small room while not knowing what I was getting myself into".

How small is this room? My room is about the size of a large closet. I let my roommate have the larger room for $20 more. Four months later he moved out (and refused to pay his full share of the rent). So now I have the whole place to myself...at a cost.

These are all large rooms. The master is almost twice as large though. and has 2 closets, and a bathroom. The other rooms have to share a bathroom. And my room has a very small closet.

How do you think I shouls divide 1400 between the 3 of us ?

Master w/ bathroom should be 550
2nd larger = 450
Small room = 400

That'll teach him to take the largest room! hahahaha

There should be no other option here because you SHARE a bathroom. Do you have the dimensions BTW? This is what I came up with from your description of the place.

Ok..one more issue. Lets say that I demand the the spilt be 550 - 450 -400. I know that roomate #2 will be happy to stay in the middle bedroom for 450. That means that roomate #1'as only option is for the small room. What if he then weants a shot at the middle size bedroom. So even though the price is fair....if it is too much for him to afford( which it probably is) then it is like I am forcing him to the smaller bedroom. Is this fair ?

It is completely fair. Maybe the guy in the medium room would want to lower his rent and get into the small room. There's always this issue anytime you move in with roommates. And its best to get it done with in the beginning rather than let it build. I forgot to ask another question. What are each of you contributing to the apartment. Furniture, electronics, etc. This also needs to play a factor in determining what is fair.

When you said you wanted the "middle" room, was it obvious that you meant the middle room logistically, or could you now say you meant the middle-sized room?

Truthfully me and roomate number 2 (the middle bedroom ghuy) will be contributing 75 - 95 % of furniture, etc. Master bedroom guy will definitely be miserly. I have pcontributed 90 % of all things in the house we have lived in for 2 years.

Yo_Ma-Ma: Funny you should mention that. Tonight I went to look at the place roomate #2. He said "Oh..so I get the small room right, you said you wanted the middle one". I could have taken it there....but I am not like that. I told the truth. Being nice doesnt always pay off...i guess.

Nah, honesty is still the best policy, you just need to work it out. Sounds like your roommate#2 is a good guy? Just explain you think the pricing is off for the disparity in the room sizes, and you'd like at least a chance of getting a different room. If it still works out you get the smaller one, at least you'll be compensated with the lower price.

Get your bud on your side and tag team the a-hole. hehehe usually works. If that guys gonna be miserly and you guys are contributing almost all the stuff, then I say just tell him to pay $580. your share would be 395. and your bud will pay 425. That's more fair.

Now if he wants to opt for a smaller room, just say that since you and your bud are providing for most of the furnishings, then the pricing again changes.

You in large = 525
Him in medium = 475
Your bud in small = 400

Your bud in large = 525
You in medium =450
him in small = 425

Is this fair? anyone?
