Any torrents that have a good copy of the Vista beta 2 iso?

I've gotten 2 bad downloads of the ISO (error code 80070241) and I've tried burning multiple copies on other software...so I'm pretty sure I got crappy downloads. I'm going to download it directly from the direct download link (not the download manager link) tonight...but are there any torrents out there that have a good copy of the iso that might be faster to download?

Yes, I do have legit keys, so I'm not asking for anything wrong here.

Let me know if theres an alternative to downloading it from microsoft (since its usually a crappy file).

MS asked a couple of torrenet sites to take down the downloads
as they wanted to insure that people only downloaded good (not tampered with)
copies of Vista

You can order it on DVD for a few dollars ... that's what I would do if I
wanted to try it .... who needs to sit thru a 4-8 hours download ? ?

Microsoft doesn't authorize public sites to host their operating systems. One reason is the possibility of rootkit-infected software being distributed. Unfortunately, the Internet isn't quite the friendly place it was five or ten years ago.

Microsoft Shuts Off VistaTorrent Site

A Web site that had been serving up Windows Vista Beta 2 via BitTorrent has stopped distributing the preview after receiving a cease-and-desist e-mail from Microsoft, the site operators announced Thursday.

Windows enthusiasts Jake Ludington and Chris Pirillo had set up VistaTorrent.com to help Microsoft get Beta 2 in users' hands, the pair said earlier this week.

Microsoft saw it differently.

"We hereby give notice of these activities to you and request that you take expeditious action to remove or disable access to the material described above, and thereby prevent the illegal reproduction and distribution of this software via your company's network," read the text of the Microsoft e-mail Ludington and Pirillo posted on the site.

Oh, awesome, thanks! I understand why torrents are taken down, but this works just fine 🙂

Gee I wonder if this ftp server in UK has Microsoft's permission to distribute its operating system.. 😕

I'm glad the linux world has the gpl license. Everyone can freely distribute gpl'd code as long the source code is provided (and you only have to provide source code when there's third parties involved). 🙂

Of course the bsd license is even less restrictive, but it doesn't encourage contributing back to the open-source community so I don't like it as much as the gpl.

I pulled 504kb/s sustained from MS' direct download link in firefox at around 5am. It finished at 6:30 and burned straight-away with Nero with no errors. I reccomend the direct download link using just firefox or IE to download.

Well, if your getting an error while installed and not burning the OS. Maybe the download is fine and the beta version just dosent like your system for some reason.

I asked for the MD5 HaSH of the x86 version in another tread.

I would compare this hash to the file you d/l.
It might save you some time by not having to Download it again for nothing.

For whatever reason, the MD5 Hash of the VistaTorrent version seemed to be different than Microsoft's download.

Forgive the noobness of my question but I've never done this before,

I have downloaded the Vista ISO file complete (from Microsoft) but I'm not sure how to make it a bootable OS install DVD. Also, there was no Code on the download so do I even need a valid key code to install?

This is about the Windows Vista Build 5536 Downloadable for the First 100k

I have Nero Ultimate 6.6 so how do I go about making the bootable DVD install disc?

Thanks in advance ~
