Like when browsing in Firefox, I don't want to go all the way up to the "back" button to go back. Can't I just tap on the touchpad a certain way?

I searched for "touchpad" in Firefox extensions but nothing came up. Maybe someone here knows something. My Compaq v2000z has a Synaptics touchpad.

Any other tips/tricks would be great.

Fire up the Synaptics touchpad software; I believe it has options for setting up the corners of the touchpad to have certain functions or keystroke combinations when you tap them. That should do what you want.

On my toshiba using ALPS touchpad software it allows you to use back and forward by going across the top of the pad (just like side ways scrolling except at the top instead of the bottom) or you could just use the back space key to go back in most cases

The back and forward functions won't work, only scroll, dunno why... (Also close/minimize/etc features still work as well)

Did you update the drivers?

Touchpads are really easy to use, and very efficient if you set them up correctly.

Thats the problem... the drivers. It's a little weird. I installed WinXP x64, I found x64 drivers on Synaptics' website but I see no options like you guys are talking about. When you install x64 you're just glad your device works at all. I think I may go back to x32 for this reason until Vista x64 goes gold.
