I read an article online, I forget what the link was, some guy put some sound insulation in his computer, and it worked great for him.

I lined the entire interior of my Antec 1040B with Dynamat sound deadening material, and there's two things I don't like.

It didn't make the computer much quiter, and now my room stinks because Dynamat is made of some foul smelling rubber, and the fans are just circulating that smell out of the computer into my room.

Anyways, what can I use to line my computer to make it a little quieter? I have 5 fans on my computer, and an annoyingly loud Dragon Orb on my CPU. I'm going nuts...

help!!!

There was some stuff that didn't stink, same as dynamat only no smell. I wouldn't recommend these as they bring yer case temps up and you can accomplish the same thing by turning off some of your case fans when u dont need them.

Dynamat is asphalt based I do believe.

How about investing in some quieter fans like the Panaflo & Pabst? You might want to look into a more efficient cpu cooler as well that can utilize a nice 80mm fan.

I have had 100% success quieting down my computer. The PC P&C silencer fans work wonders, along with a quiet fan on your ps and cpu heat sink. I decided to go cheap when insulating my case, I liked the idea of "Magic Fleece" but at $60 it is a little pricy, so I made my own. I made 8 sq. ft. for $13 and it works great. I got pics too. A carpet shop should have a 2'x 4' scrap they would give you, and that is plenty to do a Antec 1040. The cork sheet I used is also 2'x 4" and when I finished I had insulation left over.

Has anyone tried using foam liners on the outside of the case? would be ugly but i wonder if it would help. buying quiter fans costs MONEY. im not going deaf yet.
