Any tips on pushing it farther?

Specs are in my sig. Recently I decided to try to lap my CPU to get better cooling performance and I guess I really needed it because now I get this...

I know S754 is pretty old now, but it's what I have to use right now so I figure I'd try to get as much performance out of it as possible. Any tips on pushing it even farther? I'm guessing I could probably get it to 2.7GHz if I got an air conditioner for my room or something because just priming overnight when its cooler made my temps drop 5C. I tried 1.55v, but my comp froze at 337 x8 a few minutes into SP2004. Previously with 1.5v it would be good until 335 x8. So I figured I wouldn't see much more improvement going up in volts. Obviously that wasn't stable though, because currently I'm running 328 x8 with 1.5v.

Temps are around 45C at load right now, but when it gets hotter later in the day jumps up to around 50C.

You're pretty much at the limit for your chip, and you're definitely at the limit for your motherboard. Why are you running with an 8x multiplier, BTW? You'd be much better off running at 291x9. Your motherboard would thank you, at least. Also, if you're a gamer, you definitely need to get yourself a video card. A 2.6 Ghz Sempron with a $75 video card would stomp a 4 Ghz Sempron that was using onboard video.

Ahh, that's right, I guess I was thinking of the A64 2800. So, you never did say, are you a gamer? If so, you definitely need a video card much more than a bit more cpu speed.

I'd like to be, but with college and everything I can't afford a video card upgrade right now. You do make a valid point and I definitely agree though. However, right now that's not the PC's purpose, though I would like it to be. Once I buy all my books and all that college stuff is sorted out I may pick up a cheap video card to hold me over until I could build a whole new machine.
