Any tips on dropped connections?

WHenever i am downloading large files, I seem to get dropped from my wireless router even if i have good signal strength before the download. Is there anything i can do to secure the connection?

The same happens to me all the time. I don't know how to prevent it all I can do is use a download manager to make sure I can resume the file later.
