Any tips negotiating with Comcast?

Currently have a "triple package" plan. High speed internet, some HD tv channels, telephone, for $120.

For a year. Supposedly the package is worth $180 a month.

Want to reduce this. Don't really watch much tv. Am considering doing like their 25 MBS plan for $55/month and getting an Ooma for the voice and maybe picking up like a Netflix subscription.

Local phone company, a former baby bell, also offers service. Their webpage offers 25 MBS for $55.

Eh? Any better way?

Well, as much as I dislike some of Comcast's current behavior, their service is excellent, and I have yet to hear anyone say they prefer DSL.

I was in the same boat as you. I was paying $120 for 25Mbit and HD cable. I barely touched the cable and figured I was wasting tons of money.

I called them up and said I wanted to cancel my cable and telephone as I was trying to save money. That took my bill from $120 to $60. I then told them I was also shopping around for cheaper internet and they offered me $35 a month for the same plan.

I did this with Time Warner Cable. They're supposed to be one of the big evil companies, but I've found that they have the best customer service of any company I've dealt with and their internet has been rock solid.

First you need to get beyond their level one people (usually in India.) Tell them you are looking to lower your bill, they will probably give you the run around (and not much of a better deal if any) so you tell them that you are going to have to cancel services. This should then get them to transfer you to retention, and they are the ones who are going to be able to lower your bill. You will probably have to repeat your spiel to them, but I went from 180 to 120 when I called a few months ago.

This

After my "Introductory period" of internet + cable ran out 3 years ago, I decided to cut the cord and cancel the cable portion. Ended up on an "introductory" internet plan, 12Mbps for $40/mo. Been on that ever since, just have to call up every year and ask for a reduction, talk to a manager, and say AT&T has a better deal if they don't.

"I'd like your internet only package, Thanks."

There, no more negotiating required.

No negotiations.

Just get the lube out with some Kleenex and bend over.

"That will be $150/month."

It's only $35 right on their site. Even if that's an introductory price it still can't be much over $50.

EDIT: $40-$66 depending on location. Still way cheaper than $180/mo + taxes, fees, lube charges.

Bump because some dude went through my post history and was like "double post from two weeks ago."

Really, you actually remember that shit from two weeks ago? And you went through post history to find it? lame.

Anyways, need some tips on reducing it.

The golden rule of hostage negotations is to never admit the hostage takers have the position of power.

Did you read my post? I explained exactly how I reduced my bill from 180+ to 120, I don't know how to be any more clear.

If you call and say that you're trying to cancel, they'll skip the India help desk and send you to a fairly friendly person in their US call center.

Just make sure that they wave the account modification fee. A supervisor can do this.

Be nice, and whine, whine a lot saying you can't afford it, and make a personal plea to whom every you are talking to help you out, "what can you do for me so I don't have to cancel service?"

I only have HSI. I used to have good luck with promotional deals every 6 to 12 months. For the past year, I haven't been able to get anything. $75 a month for HSI seems too high, but I don't have any other options.

That's not a deal at all. That's the standard shit they give out. I'm currently on that plan.

And the other thread had better replies too. And it's locked thanks to you.
