I recently picked up a 2011 Macbook Pro 15" and have been using it as my primary PC -- docked to a monitor / keyboard.
The biggest downside for me is USB 2.0 -- I put a 512GB SSD in the machine, but I have 500GB's of photos on an external 4TB USB drive that I frequently accesss... and USB 2.0 is slow.
I've seen these thunderbolt docks that will give me video and usb 3, but they're all ~ $200.
Is there another solution - I really only care about video pass thru (2560x1440) and USB 3 support.
