Any Thuban tests/reviews with DDR2? I'd like to stick with my current mobo/ram combo but have not seen any reviews that use DDR2.

Nopes, at least not yet from what i've seen. I noticed Anand was going to but none of his AM2+ boards were yet supported...

There's really not much of a difference between DDR2 and DDR3. Slightly higher power usage and slightly lower memory scores, but the overall impact is almost negligible.

^No impact on HTT overclocking? Are AM3 boards able to clock the HTT speed higher than AM2+ boards?

Well you have one of the better AM2+ Gigabyte boards, so you could probably hit 280+ HTT. My board maxes out at around 316ish.

^Yeah I'm probably going to pick up a 1055 this weekend and be a guinea pig. Too bad I cancelled that 1090 at Tigerdirect...couldn't make up my mind lol. OCing the 1055 should be more fun anyway. :)

Guy at XS pushed his 1055T to 286 HTT on Biostar TA785GE with DDR2:

So hopefully you can have the same results

Ooohhh nice. I am aiming for 4GHz, but won't be too disappointed with around 3.6GHz.

Any particular batch code I should look for at the store?

I wondered the same thing OP. I have to think for most things dual channel DDR2 at 800MHz will have enough bandwidth to feed the cores.

But, you have to wonder if in some situations with all six cores cranking away on some highly threaded app if DDR2 won't limit it somewhat compared to DDR3.

most reviews are about 3,8 to 4, some even surpassed 4 but I'd say 3,8 should be doable on the 6core according to reviews.

Six cores at 4ghz? This is getting ridiculous. I thought having my Q8200 @ 3ghz was a feat.

(keeps pondering the switch to Thuban/AM3)
