Any thoughts on "The Zone" Diet? Compared to Atkins?

Hi all. A friend told me to post here to get people's thoughts on different things.

I was wondering if anybody has tried "The Zone" diet by Barry Sears. I've read up on it and on Atkins and they both sound promising. I'm leaning toward the Zone because I'm only 10 or 15 pounds overweight.

Does anybody have any thoughts on either of these?

The Zone just ended up being too complicated for me, wasnt easy to follow IMO.

Try it, it might work better for you. The Zone is defintly better for you then atkins.

If your only 10-15lbs overwieght just exercise once or twice more a week that your doing now and cut your consumption by a little bit and you should see the pounds go away.

If you only need to lose 10-15 pounds, all you really need to do is cut the Moutain Dew and Ramen noodles and get to the gym.

ya, i was pushing 240 and i quit all sodas and went diet soda's only. now i'm at 225. i would like to lose another 20 to 30 lbs, but i'm not doing atkins anymore. it comes off fast but then i seem to gain it back quickly.

You create carbohydrate sensitivity when you cut out carbs, effectively making your body a fat packing machine if any carbs are touched (and trust me, carbs become ALOT harder to burn off through exercise).

Here's a diet for you quakershaker, the zone is an annoying diet and is to effective energy wise (I had WAY to much energy on it, so much I couldn't sleep):

Breakfast: EAX Myoplex Meal Replacement; if your super hungry cut up some apple slices and a piece of cheese, or grated cheese.

Lunch: Any kind of meat on top of a salad with some grated cheese

Dinner: Same as lunch

You can snack on some fruits and what not(best to eat protine and a little fat with all carbs), you'll know what you need. You will not be hungry. Eat organic and you'll loose weight and stay completely healthy, diets are crap, just eat healthy.

bump....

also, i want to do this primarily so i lose BODY FAT. i'm pretty pleased with my physique but there are a few spots where i realize that only if i lower my body fat percentage, i wont make any progress.

as such are the zone or atkins good tools to use to reduce body fat percentage?

exercise is the key to all diets... how about eat with health in mind, and exercise a lot... that'd prob'ly do you better than just trying different diets and stuff...

ive been exercising and weightlifting for years now. and i eat healthy too. but i am unable to get below a certain level of body fat. as a result, while i am in very good shape, i'm unable to shed off that little remaining paunch. that's why i'm resorting to these alternative diets.

... i really get frustrated when i get a holier than thou 'just eat right and exercise' especially since i do that to begin with....

The Zone is a more Balanced diet, I bought the book about 8 months ago and have lost 60lbs and I cheat all the time.😀

I should hit the gym.
