Unfortunately, my Viewsonic PF790 is showing its age and may soon cease to work at all... and since I have oodles of store credit at Best Buy coming up, I was wondering if anyone had some thoughts on these monitors: the LG L1720P and NEC 1765.
The L1720P has DVI, so that's a plus for the future. Yet I've seen barely *anything* on this monitor despite numerous searches at many forums. How is the ghosting? Text? Color reproduction? I will be using this mainly for internet and 2D work at first, but eventually plan to upgrade my PC once all the latest games have finished coming out and the video market has slowed down (I can barely run anything past the original UT on my current setup... a 700E@933 w/GF2 64MB video).
I've heard good things about the NEC 1765 (especially the near lack of ghosting), despite the exclusion of DVI. Only other problem is that under the overhead store lights, blacks and other dark colors turn this thing into a virtual mirror. Anyone have experience in a lower-lighted room?
I've not much experience with flat panels and games, aside from playing UT 2k3 on a 213T at Circuit City 😀 ... it looked great, but 1600x1200 is out of the question for any setup for me.
Feel free to suggest other monitors, but remember it has to be something that Best Buy generally offers.
Thanks!
