Any thoughts on Sprint and Tmobile merging?

Down to 3 carriers now.

Don't count those chickens just yet.

"A deal announcement doesn't mean a merger will actually happen. Combining the third- and fourth-largest wireless U.S. providers in a market with only four participants — Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint — could be a hard sell for U.S. regulators. AT&T attempted to buy T-Mobile in 2011, only to have regulators block it on anti-competitive grounds."

Will sprints CDMA equipment be replaced by GSM? Could definitely improve coverage for Tmobile, that's all I care about. Back when the Galaxy S3 was new, I tried it with sprint and it was turrrrble so I took advantage of the 14 day return policy. Now BYOD with Tmobile and am happy as I spend 99% of the time in cities where coverage and speed is good with VoLTE but outside of towns leaves something to be desired.

Did anything good actually happen from the Sprint Nextel buyout? (Also 2 different technologies)

I've never had either...used nextel almost 20 years ago when the union provided a phone for me...hated it.

We've been with Verizon since shortly after we moved to W. WA. Expensive, but great coverage and service. (except when I'm at home...where we sit in a "bowl" surrounded on 3 sides by tall hills and even taller fir trees...)

I hated nextel with a passion. That stupid chirp, then a bunch of garbled nonsense following, My blood pressure immediately went up as soon as I heard the chirp.

Sprint seems pretty good around here. It may be that I don't know better. Work went from nextel to sprint, and all the prepaid services I used were on the sprint network. No real complaints.

Telco merges are always a bad thing. They create a disorganized monster. I know, because I work for one. They won't stop buying out other telcos and even non telcos. Everything is a mess. This affects customer service too. And of course, it means less competition. But that's the capitalist way.

Well its better than if Verizon bought either of them so there's that. Maybe TMobiles coverage will get better but I think it will be awhile before there is any real improvement
