Any thoughts on sceptre LCD tv

I had a sceptre (42in 1080p) for about 4 months, but the TV was just flaky as heck. The PQ was awful compared to the Vizio I replaced it with (until the HDMI inputs broke) and then Phillips that followed (currently own and still love). Pretty much compared to other companies, terrible SD, flaky inputs and difficult to calibrate to look great. It was my first HDTV, but after dealing with it, I wouldn't touch them again with a 10 foot pole.

My parents have a 30-somethin inch Sceptre and I think it looks purty darn nice for what they paid for it. I do admit though that they have the TV a decent ways away from the couch, but my roommate has a 61" Samsung 1080p DLP, so I know what a nice picture looks like 😛

Eh, I'd say they are decent if you want it for a secondary TV (in your bathroom, workshop, home gym, etc...). The ones I've seen don't have the image quality to be contenders for any major watching. However, if you are on a really tight budget than maybe it's something to consider. Personally, my primary sets will always come from tier 1 manuf (for both quality and warranty reasons). If I was going to buy tier 2... I would probably go with a Vizio or maybe Olivia.

Edit: that's still a very attractive price for a 46" set... and since it's from costco you can always return it without any hassle if you don't like it after a couple of weeks.
