I have been watching the Sony Open on the tennis channel and I have seen on the crawl a couple of 3rd set scores of 10-5 and 10-7. Do they have some special scoring? I thought the last set you had to win by 2. WTF??

I should add that this tournament has final set tie breaks so I am really confused.

That's odd...it's suppose to be a 2 set win unless it goes into a tiebreaker. Even a tiebreaker won't have these types of scores.

perhaps you were watching doubles or junior matches. it varies by tournament, but they sometimes opt to play a 'super' tiebreak, which is essentially first to 10 points.

Yeah, I think these were double scores so that was probably it. I never heard of the super tiebreak.

In doubles now the third set is decided by first to win 10 games.
