I am begining a new project and am looking for the best motherborad possible. i have a 939 4400+ x2 processor and i want an sli capable board. i would also like at least 4 3.0 gbs sata connections for my raid array, although more wouldn't hurt. everything else is negotiable. any suggestions.

asus a8n-sli premium... DFI lp sli-d... msi k8n platinum diamond... are all good boards for less than $175. As for ATi chipsets, the only worthwhile ones are the a8r-mvp and dfi lp ut cfx3200. Both are more expensive than their nvidia counterparts. Welcome to the forums!

thxs for the suggestions i checked out all three and i think im going with the asus. but was wondering if it is x2 compatable out of the box or if you need a single core chip to flase the bios for an x2.
