Any suggestions on new router and modem?

The modem i have now is a westell from 6 years back. We have dsl and its running from the modem to my router (D-link DI-624). Even after the firmware updates the internet stills seems to stall and disconnect everynight. I don't know much about connections but i think it may be some kind of bandwith overload of some sort. Im thinking its just the age of my modem and its time to upgrade. its been going on for about a year now. any suggestions? thanks in advance.
