Any suggestions on a multifunction inkjet?

I need a new Multifunction inkjet (print/scan/copy) that does a good job with text as well as decent photos. Features I am intrested in is double-sided printing (automatic page flip instead of manually having to do it) and cheap ink cartridges/refills.

Any suggestions would be great 🙂

Many of the Canons can do auto-duplex but automatic is slow and takes a toll on the mechanism. For short runs of a few pages it's fine. The old flip the stack and put it back thru is still far and away the fastest - I do a fair amount of documentation and manuals and I'd never run anything lengthy on automatic again. I'd say the MP530 up is where to look. Right now you can get clone ink tanks for $4. and under but you have to learn to transplant the chips from the OEM tanks.
. I also know that HP has made some printers with separate, passive (no chips) ink tanks, but IDK if that made it into the AIO line. Look for one that uses the HP-02 series of tanks. The advantage of the Canons is that the ink for black text is pigmented, while all the HP-02 are dye-based. The clone tanks for that where I get my Canon tanks are $7 for color and $8. for black. And you can always refill the tanks (Canon and HP) if you want for lowest TCO. Check www.nifty-stuff.com forum for tips on clone tanks and refilling. HP has a couple of other lines of passive tanks but I don't think you'll find those in AIOs.
