hey all,

We are looking for a program that will mass email allow about 24,000 users for a client of ours. No, not dressing this up, a client that should be doing this on their own has asked us to send out these emails, and we need to pick a product, and test that it won't poop all over our network when we do it. If it matters, we were sent an excel file with all the email addresses.

anyone done this before?

any suggestions on a solid product?

any other advice would be great.

I wrote an app in PHP for a client that did this. They uploaded a dump of their user-base and typed in the text and attached a catalog and clicked "Send" and they were delivered. Works great.

The only times, though, that I've ever done mass mailers have been custom apps I've written. Never used any of the apps out there.

Are the recipients of the email members of a domain or something similiar? Are they in an Outlook contact list, or just in a spreadsheet or database?

If they are all members of a company domain or are in an Outlook contact list you can create a distribution list to "all" and add everyone to the list and use it to send the messages.

hey,

the client sent us the list in an excel file. The users that need to be sent the email are not in a domain, they have various email providers.

Vertical Response is a company I have used in the past.

The biggest issue isnt crapping your email servers. The biggest issue is getting your exchange boxes or email servers put on a black list. That is why I suggest a 3rd party to do this.

btw if you dont care about possibly being blacklisted. All you need to do is a mail merge from that excel sheet.

I wouldn't reccomend doing this type of mailing from a business unless you know what you are in for.

I've had to deal with blacklistings because of wrong configs in Exchange and it will cause loss profit or delay of profit to the company.
