Any such thing with a car rental?

episodic

Lifer
Looking to rent a car for a cross country trip as cheap as possible. . .

I've checked a few places and they seem to charge by the mile for out of state rentals which of course would be extremely costly. I don't care if it is Geo Metro, I just want to rent wheels.

Thanks for any leads. . .

people pay to have their car driven accross country. Not sure how they find their drivers though...

go to the bigger name places. They usually don't charge per mile. I've rented from Dollar and that was unlimited milage in any amount of states. I'm pretty sure some friends went with Enterprise and it was the same thing.

yeah, but they expect the car to be returned to the location it was rented from. He is looking to do the ultimate one-way rental...

I've looked into it, and the only thing I could come close to doing it with was getting a cargo van from Budget. Nobody does one ways with passenger cars.

gotcha. I didn't get that from the original post, but it makes sense.

Strange, I did a one-way car rental a couple of years ago. It was from one airport to another(from NC to VA), I forget which company it was though. They didn't charge mileage.

Hertz and Avis both offer one-way. I rented a Concorde from Avis last summer and was able to go from Milwaukee, WI to Charleston, WV. Rode back in my friends U-haul.
