Any such thing as free cd burning software?

Well, is there? The only thing I have been able to find is the 30 day eval version of Nero. Is there anything else out there? I only need it to burn back ups on office data files.

I am willing to buy something if I have to. Just thought I would see if there was any freeware or shareware out there first.

Thanks

cdrtools

It's a collection of command-line mastering and burning tools. Free of course. The only problem I can think of is that I don't know how well, if at all, it works on Windows. If you've got a *NIX system in the office, you can just install it (if it's not already installed, which it probably is if you're running Linux) along with a nice GUI frontend like cdbakeoven or xcdroast, and you're ready to go. 🙂

Get Nero. It's one program that's really worth the tiny amount of money they charge for it.

I agree. I was just being cheap and have never really looked to see if there were any alternatives out there.

I did a Google search and found a product called cd mate. I just tried it to burn a couple of small word docs and it worked great. I was lazy and have not read thru everything to see how much it is after the eval time is up.

There is a program called "BurnatOnce" that uses an Open Source burning engine. It burns pretty much everything and anything you could want. It is totally free 🙂 It just isn't the easiest to make compilations with.

Codewiz, Thanks. I think this is really what I was looking for. BurnAtOnce For anyone else that is looking for it. I will post back once I've tried it.

Just a little word of advice. In Win2k or XP, it doesn't lock the cd-rw drive so if you accidentally do something in "My Computer" to the cd-rw while it is burning, it will kill the burn. This might have been fixed but I am not sure. I have killed like 2 cds because I opened media player and it tried to access the cd-rw while burning.
