Any strategy games that actually allow for huge battles?

I hate other people :p

All the more reason to want to beat them down and hear the lamenting of their womens.

What if I like to win?

If you like to win, then you'll enjoy winning against real opponents that aren't retarded (like AIs) even more than you enjoy winning against AIs. However, it is a strategy game so you have to learn the strategy and tactics in order to be able to win. Sometimes you'll win, an sometimes you'll lose, but it will be a lot more interesting and satisfying than stomping hapless AI.

Sins of a Solar Empire

I seem to remember a dual-core option, maybe I was wrong?

Sadly, it's single core only.

What maps? I usually play setons clutch, however the shuriken map (huge map) also dosent fare that well.

What were the unit caps at?

Supcom FA will crash for me when it reaches 2.3-2.5GB of memory usage. It also will crawl when the unit count is kicked up, 8 sorian AI's with 2000 unit caps each is absolutely no go territory. Even 1 AI vs me with 2000 units each and the game will start to slowdown if i spam tech1/2 units and not just experimentals, its not unplayable but it gets boring because its so slow.

Setons Clutch is the prime example of the slowdown the bug causes. Play some of the 40x40 maps and you'll see that the game doesn't slow down nearly as much at all.

Not sure; I'll run it again tonight and crank up the unit caps as high as I can.

This. I don't intend to start another "singleplayer vs. multiplayer" argument, but when you're playing a game that was clearly designed for multiplayer, then you're going to have the best experience playing with other people. Period.

Ok. I did another 8-player AI battle with Supcom: FA, and I turned the unit cap up to a thousand. I don't know how to count how many units there are on-screen, so I can't really give a number. But I let the game run for about 20 minutes. Here are some screenshots I took. You can see the full album here.

Ran without a hitch. I have a very beefy computer though.

I miss the Homeworld series. Just wanted to throw that in...

Homeworld is fantastic, but its limited draw distance really hurts it. Often times it feels like big battles are fought from the zoomed out map.

Also Homeworld campaign is incredibly challenging and amazing.
