Now that reviews are out I'd like to see for myself. Who's got them on the floor?

While I still think this phone beats every other phone on the market even without all those software features, but the half-baked nature of those features is such a huge negative to me. (like, how many times do you have to wave your hands? Why does screen go up when you wave your hand side-ways?)

"You can turn it off" isn't an answer. Those features should work naturally and effortlessly. Consumers are not test drivers. I mean, if those are only a couple of glitches that can be fixed via software updates, I could give them a break. But from the looks of it, majority of those features require learning curves instead of "just working." And even then they still don't work very well, or work only with select apps from the videos I've watched. It looks like Samsung still haven't learned that consumers value "finish" and "fit."

I will reserve my judgment until I see them myself, but can't help but think Samsung need some sort of leadership among them in designing a phone.

And frankly that seems to me a way bigger "issue" to discuss than the plastic v. metal obsession that I'm seeing from "professional" reviewers. I think the S4 is a very well made phone, hardware-wise.

Why is it well made? Because it comes with an SD slot and removable batteries? BFG. 2 out of my 3 phones have that and it's not even something I utilized. The AMOLED screen? Horrible to some, lovely to others. So, what do you have left? Oh, that's right, the software. Yeah, the things you considered a real negative. No one on the Android side has matched Apple in this category or will anytime soon. Truth is this phone is overhyped but it's a decent upgrade. Nothing to write home about.

When I got my Note 2 first thing I did was disable all the motion stuff. Even with all of that stuff disabled I'd take the S4 over the One without a doubt. To me metal = scratch heaven and a heavier phone, which is not what I want.

The disjunction between tone and content in these is hilarious. They don't want to praise the phone, but can't find anything to knock it on either... Yes, yes, we get it, you went all-in on your One praise and don't want to admit that aside from vanity (appearance) the S4 wins on all counts.

Also unfortunate that no one besides GSM Arena is even trying to measure headphone outputs any more. Blah.

Btw, pretty sure the answer is "no"... Reviews were probably timed to AT&T preorder shipments arriving.

You're just as bias as you make others out to be. It isn't just "vanity". The product is better made, in addition to looking better. Also, HTC put some thoughts into the camera instead of just playing the numbers game. In fact, that is exactly what Samsung is doing here (playing the numbers game). To Samsung, quantity is quality when that is simply not true. More does not always mean better. Having a bunch of terrible gimmicks is not the same as making quality features that actually work. IMHO, HTC really thought about what they wanted in this phone whereas Samsung just went with the bigger is better mantra. You can clearly see it in this phone and their other phones, such as the new "Mega" phones.

More accurate? Yeah right, they added an extra green pixel. But I'd love to be proven wrong. When this device becomes available I'll check it out.

http://www.oled-info.com/galaxy-s4-subpixel-matrix-leaked-photo

I think I showed you this before and yet you still just make up crap about Samsung, are you being paid to post negative things about Samsung because that is all you do,you still didn't tell me how much they are worth when I clearly showed you all there market caps they had and do you still think lg is going to kill Samsung in the tv department lol.Yet you still post after post have a biased against them

They didn't just add another green, they completely changed the array of the pixels from the gs3 and note 2

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s4_vs_htc_one-review-913p3.php

This one compares to the iphone 5
http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-ga...firms-amoleds-can-finally-do-accurate-colors/

When it comes to white balance the Galaxy S4 in Film and Adobe RGB modes is closest to the desired 6500K color temperature while the iPhone 5 got about 7250K and the HTC One 8000K, both going for a colder color temperature.

Samsung’s new AMOLED displays are as sharp as diamonds!

Samsung is going to use a new technology inside their upcoming SuperAMOLED displays. The new Full HD SuperAMOLED panels are going to use a diamond or a hexagonal based structure. The new diamond a hexagonal based structure allows Samsung to achieve 440ppi+ pixel density in its mobile displays and also makes the display a bit sharper. Samsung has been developing those by utilizing the Laser-Induced Thermal Imaging (LITI) production process, which is cheaper and allows for much smaller subpixels to be laid out than the conventional Fine Metal Mask (FMM).

What with this being Samsung and all you’d expect that this is going to be an AMOLED display and that’s just what we’re hearing out of the rumor mill. At 4.99″, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 it’ll pack an impressive 440 ppi density that bests the iPhone’s “retina” density of 326 ppi. AMOLED displays have always had a stigma surrounding their sub-pixel arrangement and the Galaxy S III was criticized for using a PenTile arrangement but, the screen has since been praised as one of the best out there. Now, there is talk of this 4.99″ display to utilize hexagonal and diamond-shaped pixels in order to push all those pixels into an AMOLED display.

Samsung are able to do this through the use of their Laser-Induced Thermal Imaging (LITI) as opposed to the older Fine Metal Mask (FMM) process that was used in previous displays. There were rumors that Samsung were struggling to get mass-production of the panel all worked out but now it looks like everything is a-okay for the Galaxy S IV’s display. The use of hexagonal and diamond-shaped pixels is said to help AMOLED displays squeeze in more pixels than the traditional side-by-side layout of older displays. I’m not the biggest fan of AMOLED displays and much prefer IPS panels but there’s no denying that the S III’s display is vivid and bright, Super AMOLED displays are one of Samsung’s biggest differentiators in the smartphone game and they’re hoping that their display will come out on top of the Super LCD IPS that HTC and Sony seem to be using.

Have you seen the S4 screen yet? Your adversion to AMOLED screens is legendary, but you should keep an open mind as reviews of the S4 screen universally seem to praise it. Color accuracy seems massively better than the S3 (and better than the HTC One if I read the review correctly).

IMO I think the Note 2 is well made and I'm impressed that Samsung was able to fit a 5" display into a body smaller, thinner, and lighter than the S3 and HTC One (with only a 4.7" screen). Your preference is one thing, but for me, the Note 2 is the best phone I've used and again for me, incomparably superior to the iPhone 5. Based on 15 minutes of playing with the One, I have no desire to switch. But I don't go around screaming that everyone must love the Note 2 or that the size is right for everyone.

Daylight phots in the S4 look to be the best of any phone, nighttime photos are improved but not as good as the One (which goes back to your habit of bemoaning anything not "the best" as crap).

Lastly, the ability to root and the weath of developer support for S4 is likely to be much stronger than the One. HTC annoucning that their last year flagship phones won't receive KLP is also dissapointing.

It's called using your brain.
You shouldn't need a forum software to do that for you. ^_^

Not to mention even with the forum software, once a random person quotes the person you ignored, you still end up seeing their post anyway so the "ignore" feature is essentially useless anyway.

You are correct. And I've said in this very thread that I'd love to be proven wrong. I have undergrad degrees in EE and Applied Math and grad degree in Economics so I'm always skeptical of convictions. But I also have excellent eyesight and I've looked at Samsung's various flagship devices. They are very tempting, hardware-wise, but Samsung's AMOLED screens always appear off-color to me. They are awful in every sense of the word. I have a phone with a (non-Samsung) OLED screen and it's really nice so I'm at a loss as to what is wrong with Samsung's OLED screens and even more surprised at how people love it. It's shocking and I'm sure I can't be the only one.

I am perfectly happy to be proven wrong and will admit as much if their S4 flagship is different from their previous works. But I don't expect much to change. As for rooting and all that, it's not something I've done on a phone and I don't see the use. But, again, I'm willing to change course if I can be convinced otherwise of its usefulness.

no problem this is fun, here is a image tool that will compare all the phones with same image

scale it to 5mp because the htc on is not a 13 and move it around to see how much better the gs4 is

http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=1&idPhone1=5371&idPhone2=5313&idPhone3=5204

http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=3&idPhone1=5371&idPhone2=5313&idPhone3=5204

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s4_vs_htc_one-review-913p8.php

it just gets to me when people like you post the numbers game and say Samsung is just playing that game when in fact the camera on the gs4 is freaking amazing

I see. The Samsung one is the best in that comparison. But, is that it? What about low light pics? Or other pics?

In all fairness, he shouldn't have to prove this. I think every review I've ready (Anandtech, engagdget, gsmarena) has repeated that the S4 has the best daylight camera, the HTC One has the best low light. And neither are terrible at the other.

I thought you would never ask, here is the gs4 spanking the htc one in low light tests haha

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s4_vs_htc_one-review-913p10.php

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S4. Surprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has the better low-light camera performance. You'll have to snap several photos to make sure you have a good one, but the end result will be better than what the HTC One produces. The Galaxy S4 has a slight advantage in low-light video too.

and also who the heck cares about low light anyways,we don't buy phones for taking pictures in the dark

Nah, I like reading your stupid basement dweller posts, its very entertaining.

Your just butt-hurt because samsung is not the evil entity you constantly try to make it out to be.

I for one will be getting the S4 primarily for the camera and screen. I already have the S3 and will hand it off to my son and sell off his S1.

ohh wait they just added a green pixel and are pushing the 1080p numbers game lmfao.

Samsung has pushed amoled to a new level with the gs4 and we can almost call it a game changer.they did not just add a green pixel dari, its a whole new design and build process
