Any sort of "unlocking" on the 7800GTX ?

Just a thought...Even though the specs for the Ultra anit out yet, you think there might be anything to unlock ?

I had the thought that this might be the explanation for the massive availibility at launch - that it's really a 32 pipe card with low yields for all 32 pipes but if they lock 8 of them (of which 1 to 8 are borked), bingo, excellent yields and an ace in the hole (the cards with all 32 pipes working that they're stockpiling somewhere for the ultra launch)

but I haven't really been following the release other then to glance and the review and press release, so i don't know if that's anything even remotely within the relm of possibility.

I think by now we have decided the core couldn't fit 32 pipes at 110nm

Also note that some reviewers got A1 and some got A2 revisions, and the A1's have a "24F"

Huh?...I'd have figured the GTX was the Ultra equivaltent.
